University of Guam offers scholarships for coming year

The University of Guam is offering the following scholarships to students:

UOG Western Pacific Coral Reef Institute Scholarships — Deadline Aug.12

The Western Pacific Coral Reef Institute scholarships are available to resident students of Micronesia (Guam, CNMI, RMI, Palau, and FSM) studying biology or environmental science at the University of Guam. WPCRI anticipates funding three awards in the amount of $4,288 for undergraduates and $5,376 for Fall Semester 2011.

The application can be downloaded from The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. August 12. Applications must be submitted to the UOG Financial Aid Office located in the field house.

  • The Dave J. Santos Scholarship offered by the Guam Chamber of Commerce. One full scholarship (tuition, fees, books, and a paid internship) will be awarded in the 2011-2012 academic year. For more information visit
  • UOG Course on Northern Guam Lens Aquifer — Deadline to register is July 29

UOG Professional and International Programs and the Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific offer a new course titled, “The Northern Guam Lens Aquifer: Geology, Hydrology and Professional Tools” beginning Aug. 19.

The purpose of the course is to equip practicing water resources engineers and other water resources professionals working on Guam with a solid understanding of Guam’s Northern Guam Lens Aquifer. Course instructors are John Jensen and Danko Taborosi.
