No Senate advice on the Special Prosecutor

Special Report – Koror, Palau, Micronesia (Oceania Television Network, July 08, 2011)

With nearly a year and half left in the current administration, Palau is still without a Special Prosecutor. Following last week’s report, OTV has learned that the Senate still has not given President Toribiong advice in regards to the Special Prosecutor position since they rejected David Hutton in May of this year.

The President made it clear in his letter to Senate President Mlib Tmetuchl following the rejection of Hutton that he will not be submitting a new nominee, but instead asks for the Senate’s advice on what to do next in regards to filling the Special Prosecutor position or the Office of the Special Prosecutor. On July 7, 2010, OTV sent out a letter to the Senate to find out the status of the Special Prosecutor. As of today, the Senate has made no response, but OTV will continue updating its viewers on this story.
