Casino Gaming campaign on

Special Report
Koror, Palau, Micronesia (Oceania Television Network, May 20, 2011)

Casino Gaming and the question of whether it is right for Palau or not has been the hottest subject matter around the Republic in recent weeks. Anti-casino supporters begun campaigning along the streets, through media and brochures with about a month left until the national referendum. Mindzenty High School students were seen just last Friday donning signs bearing anti-casino messages such as “youth against gambling” and “vote no casino”.

Aside from Senator Alfonso Diaz’s television and radio shows including his personal thoughts on the matter, not a single pro-casino supporter has campaigned or made their presence known to the public of the potential benefits of gambling. The Council of Chiefs, youths, churches and other organization continue to raise awareness on their position of gambling in Palau. The national referendum is scheduled for June 22nd.
